The kyrie has been a sacred song form of the Christian liturgy since the first century of the Church. The Greek lyric reads, “Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison”. The English translation is simply, “Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy”. I wanted to place these beautiful lyrics in a setting that would be meaningful to my worshipping community. I hope this prayer may help us to own our sin, name our hopes and seek our Saviour.

  6. Brought back memories of my time spent growing up in the Lutheran church and its liturgy. The Kyrie was a staple of the worship service. And while I’m no music critic, if JD says it’s Mark’s best to date, I’m going with that!!
